Emily Theophylactou

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I’ve loved art since I was old enough to hold a pencil.  Art allows me to express myself and get my thoughts and ideas on paper.  Art is my special language, that shows the most intimate and personal side of me.  I enjoy drawing unusual pieces and coming up with innovative pieces of art that showcase my unique personality.

At Woodbridge Art School, I meet other artists who share the same passion and attitudes towards art.  We are like a family that comes together, sharing and expressing ourselves through art. I enjoy all mediums such as pen and ink, prisma colour and acrylic painting.

I hope to continue my journey in a Fine Arts Program at University and I look forward to a career as an Art High School Teacher.  The teachers at Woodbridge Art School, like Roger and Jubo have taught me so much in all areas of art.  They offered endless support and always gave me a fresh perspective.  Their love for art is contagious and is shared with all of the students there.

MICHAEL HUH

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I enjoy art because it gives me a medium to express my inner emotions, as cheesy as it sounds. Emotions, like joy, sadness, love, distress, and anger. Especially anger. I have a lot of it, so it gives me a place to relieve that and relax.

My favourite medium would have to be watercolour. I love how it flows, making things blend and mix. Some people I know don’t like it so much because how it can be hard to tell the difference between one thing to another; but I think that’s exactly the reason why I like it so much.

It gives me time out of my, well, rather busy schedule to express my creativity in a studio setting. If I didn’t go to this school, I would not have that time to explore my skills and talents.

I had hoped I could get into graphic design. The design program at York if possible. I love art, but more so, I love art design.

Kevin Ge

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

My name is Kevin and I am in Grade 7. I enjoy art because of how it makes me feel calm, and when I am finished a piece I can look at it and see what a great job I did. Art is one of my strengths and I find it very fun.

My favourite medium is Clay because I like moulding and making three-dimensional art work. I enjoy attending Woodbridge at school because it isn’t crowded or unorganized and because the teachers are wonderful and they encourage me with my art. When I grow up I would like to become an engineer, but I always have spare time to continue working on my art!

Giulia andricciola

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

Art is a passion that thrives through my heart, showing my family and friends my creativity. I love art because it comforts me and makes me happy, it’s what I enjoy doing the most. Art is very emotional in many ways and always puts a smile on my face. My most enjoyed medium is drawing, especially drawing eyes. One day I hope to become a professional artist and show people my emotions in my paintings and drawings.

At Woodbridge Art School my art teacher inspires me to take on new challenges, think outside the box and to never give up! Woodbridge Art School is my second family, I have made amazing new friends and teachers, and the staff is awesome.

Catherine Sgro the Director has done amazing things for us students. I would like to say that I am very proud of myself and what I have accomplished at Woodbridge Art School and I hope my skills improve over the years. Thank u for choosing me – Artist Of the Year!

Danielle BitteR

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

My name is Danielle and I absolutely love art because I am able to create anything I want. It is a great feeling when your imagination is manifested on paper and you can say “Yeah I did that!” My most favourite medium probably has to be watercolor, because it cannot be controlled, it’s organic. I enjoy attending Woodbridge Art school because of the encouragement from the teachers and other students.

Joelle Raymond

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I enjoy art because it lets me see things from a different perspective. Instead of seeing a tree, I see each and every leaf, branch, bud, and piece of bark. I especially enjoy working with watercolor. I love the effect the density of the paint gives. Each stroke glides and it’s easy to layer, mix and achieve low opacity with this type of paint.

I enjoy attending Woodbridge Art school because of the amount of care and dedication the staff puts into their job, their actions and attitude really reflect that. My teacher, Miss Laura is caring, funny, creative and thoughtful and overall a very nice person. Her attitude gives off a positive vibe and makes you feel happy when you’re around her. As far as a career option, I would really like a career in law. I love researching, and quick thinking. I would like to be a judge someday. I love looking past people’s appearances and seeing different points of use.

VICTORIA ZHAO

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

My name is Victoria and I am a grade 4 student. I enjoy art because I feel more relaxed and happy when I am creating something. My favourite medium is acrylic paint on canvas.

I love attending Woodbridge Art school because it gives me the opportunity to explore different colours and techniques that I didn’t know before. At my day school we just use markers and crayons to colour simple pictures, but at Woodbridge art school we do so much more than just colouring. I love my teachers Miss. Daniela and Miss Marcella. One day I would like to be an art or music teacher.

ALESSIA VLAD

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I enjoy art because it allows me to express my feelings and be free. I also like creating art for others because it make them feel special. I truly enjoy working with all mediums, but one of my favourite to use is acrylic paint.

I love attending Woodbridge Art School because the staff is wonderful, helpful and always teaching me new ideas. At this point in my life, I look forward to being an Art teacher some day and helping children discover their hidden talents. Laura is my teacher and she has been very supportive teaching me how to use different mediums. She has been a great mentor and I hope to draw like her one day!

Miranda Shen

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I love art because it prompts you to take up a challenge. Creating a work of art isn’t always easy, and you have to push yourself to go above and beyond what your vision is. To add, you can be so proud of yourself once you’ve created something amazing.

My favourite medium is acrylic, because you can always go back to touch up your work or go over anything to improve your picture. I love the freedom that we have to express ourselves at Woodbridge Art School, they allow me to transform my ideas onto a sheet of paper or a canvas with the proper materials and guidance.

As far as a career, I’m not exactly sure what I would like to do, but I know for sure that I will be majoring in fine arts in university. I have also looked into creating advertisements for companies such as Google or Buzzfeed.

Isabella Fratianni

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

My name is Isabella and I’m in Grade 6, I love art because I can express my creativity by drawing, painting or other mediums. My favorite medium is painting because I enjoy applying the paints, blending different colours on to the canvas to make the painting my own.

Sophia Mizzoni

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

My name is Sophia and I am in Grade 1, I love art because you are allowed to get messy and you can make something pretty. My favorite is painting and I love Woodbridge ART SCHOOL because it’s a real school. My teacher Marcella is very nice. One day I would like to be a veterinarian.

Sienna Mizzoni

FEATURED STUDENT – 2017

I am a Grade 3 student and I like art because it’s surprising to me and fun to learn and create drawings and paintings. I especially like pencil sketching. Woodbridge ART SCHOOL helps me learn the correct way to draw in a fun way. Miss Lakesha my teacher is a bit funny and kind. When I grow up I would like to be a dentist.

Cailin Sadecka

Featured Student 2017

My name is Cailin and I am in the 6th grade. I love art because I get to express my emotions by painting, drawing, and sketching. I get to make something beautiful through my feelings, Paul Cezanne said  it best….”A work of art which did not begin in  emotion is not art.”

My favourite mediums to use our pencil crayons and watercolor. These two are my favourite because they go together hand-in-hand and still look beautiful even when their apart.

The staff at Woodbridge Art school is amazing and the artwork is pretty challenging for all levels. They help us extend our abilities to draw, paint, and sketch. My teacher is also amazing and smart and has trophy worthy artistic talent.

One day I would love to be an author. I know that it’s weird coming from a girl who loves to draw, but I also love to write. So instead of having other people create the book covers for me, I can do them myself.

Vanessa Colangelo

Featured Student 2017
